When to Repair Your Brakes

Imagine you’re driving down the highway and suddenly you see a large truck in front of you, swerving in and out of its lane. You slam on your brakes and narrowly avoid a collision. Phew! That was a close one. But now, as you continue to drive, you notice that your brakes don’t seem to be working as well as they used to. What gives? It’s possible that you may need to repair or replace your brakes. But how can you tell? Here are three signs that it might be time for brake repair.

  1. Your car is making strange noises when you brake. If you hear screeching, grinding, or humming noises coming from your brakes, it’s time to take your car in for service. These sounds indicate that your brake pads are worn down and need to be replaced. Ignoring this problem will only make it worse, and eventually, you may even damage your rotors.
  2. Your brake pedal feels spongy when you press on it. If it takes longer than usual for your car to come to a stop, or if your brake pedal feels “soft” or “spongy” when you press on it, there could be a problem with your brake fluid. When air gets into the brake lines, it reduces the effectiveness of your brakes. This is a serious issue that needs to be addressed by a professional mechanic as soon as possible.
  3. You’ve been getting a lot of “check engine” lights lately. Believe it or not, the “check engine” light on your dashboard might have something to do with your brakes. If the light comes on while you’re braking, it could indicate a problem with the pressure sensor in your braking system. Of course, it could also indicate other problems with your car, so it’s always best to get it checked out by a mechanic as soon as possible just to be safe.

If you’re experiencing any of the problems listed above, it’s time to take your car in for brake repair before the situation gets worse-and more dangerous. Don’t wait until it’s too late! Bring your car into our shop today and we’ll take care of everything for you quickly and efficiently so that you can get back on the road as soon as possible. Thank you for choosing us!
